Life makes no guarantees, but you can be pretty sure of a satisfying
meal at the Monsoon restaurant. The menu isn't flashy, just the typical
tandoori dishes, curries, breads, and vegetable preparations. Plates of
meats cooked in the clay oven are the reason to seek out these rosy
dining rooms done up with traditional Indian art. Whole tandoori
chicken takes the prize for succulence, though lamb is a crowd pleaser, too.
And breads from the tandoor, such as the classic nan and the more
interesting onion kulcha, are blistered and almost smoky.
Start the meal with expertly fried samosas and pakoras, and round out
your tandoori plates with a Karhai-style stir-fry of Indian spices,
vegetables, and chicken or lamb and one of several expertly seasoned
vegetable dishes, such as mixed ve vegetable Bhuna, mixed vegtable Rogan Josh.
